You're Almost there:
Well you've made the big step and you've decided to have your quilt professionally completed. Now, it's time to dot your I's and cross your T's.
You need to prepare your quilt in the best possible way so we can work our magic. Certainly, this is a service that we can provide (see pricing) but most folks prefer to take this final step themselves. It's your last chance to make sure everything is just the way you want it and to get that one last picture.
Preparation of Quilt and Backing:
1. Press quilt top and backing (if provided) completely.
2. Cut backing and batting (if provided) 6" longer and 6" wider than quilt top.
3. Remove selvages from back fabric before seaming.
4. Trim threads on backing and quilt top.
5. Check for loose and open seams - repair them.
6. If you plan on using embellishments be sure to not attach them prior to quilting. Beadwork and couching are beautiful additions to your quilt but can be very difficult to work around. Instead, if you want to describe for me or provide a template of what you plan on embellishing we can adjust the quilting to best accent the overall design.
6. Do not baste quilt layers together.
